Mr. Rakesh Kumar is associated with the Special Education Department at UDGAM- A Mental Health Care & Rehabilitation Centre, Delhi, with his team providing Special Education, Remedial Education and Early Intervention, for children with special needs. He is a Senior Rehabilitation Professional in the field of Special Education and Rehabilitation. He has worked for over 14 years at RAK Child Study Centre at Lady Irwin College, Delhi and had been a visiting professional at various Rehabilitation Centers.
He is currently the Vice- President of ARPP- Association of Rehabilitation Professionals and parents. He is also the Joint Secretary of IARP (Indian Association of Rehabilitation Professionals) - Delhi Chapter and Executive member of NCED, Delhi Chapter.
He is well trained in neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, Autism, Mental Retardation, Specific Learning Disability, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Expressive disorder and other Behavioral and Emotional Difficulties in children.
At UDGAM, the Special education team aims to provide holistic development of young children with special needs, and to prepare them for mainstreaming. The highly qualified special educators provides wide range of teaching & learning facilities to help kids for regular formal school. His team has designed computerized special education curriculum to meet the unique needs of a child with special needs. They work on developing skills, like-eye contact, comprehension level, attention span, reading and writing skills, on task behavior, memory, learning skills and study skills.
